The 2022 FIFA World Cup, held from 20 November to 18 December 2022 in eight stadiums in Qatar, was the first World Cup football tournament in history to be held in Qatar and in Middle Eastern countries, and only the second to be held in Asia, and the Qatar World Cup was also the first World Cup football tournament to be held during the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere.
On 18 December 2022, the closing ceremony and final of that World Cup took place at the Stade de la Roussel, in which Argentina, wearing the classic blue and white striped football kits, defeated France, wearing dark blue football jerseys, 7-5 on aggregate after penalties to win the title. France and Croatia finishing as runners-up and third-place finishers.
